Welcome to Soroptimist International of Downriver!
We are a passionate group of women who believe in the power of friendship, service, and community. As part of Soroptimist International, a global volunteer organization dedicated to improving the lives of women and girls through education, empowerment, and opportunity, we work together to create meaningful change right here in the Downriver area. Whether we're awarding scholarships, mentoring young women, supporting survivors, partnering with local organizations, or simply lending a helping hand, our mission is to inspire hope and make a lasting difference—one woman, one girl, and one project at a time.
We invite you to be part of something bigger. Our Business Meetings are held on the first Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at the Woodhaven Community Center, while our Dinner Meetings take place on the third Tuesday at rotating Downriver restaurants. These evenings may feature guest speakers, hands-on service projects, leadership discussions, or simply an opportunity to connect with inspiring women who share a heart for service.

Save the Girls Annual Charity Golf Outing
One great day on the golf course creates opportunities that change lives.
The Save the Girls Charity Golf Outing was the vision of Soroptimist member Fallon Belisle, who wanted to create a fun, community-centered event that would raise funds to support the work of Soroptimist International of Downriver. Thanks to her leadership and the incredible support of our community, the outing has quickly become one of our favorite annual traditions.
The inaugural event was held in June 2023 at Wesburn Golf & Country Club in South Rockwood, Michigan. Since then, golfers, sponsors, volunteers, and local businesses have come together each year to make an even bigger impact. The outing features a popular 4-Person Shotgun Scramble, with morning or midday tee times depending on the year.
Of course, the golf is only part of the experience. Participants enjoy a day filled with great food, snacks and refreshments, contests, exciting raffle baskets, prizes, and a delicious catered lunch or dinner. Registration includes greens fees, golf cart, meals, and everything needed for a memorable day on the course.
Our generous community makes this event possible. Businesses and individuals support the outing through hole sponsorships, cart sponsorships, tent sponsorships, prize donations, and countless acts of generosity. Every sponsor, golfer, volunteer, and donor becomes part of something much bigger than a round of golf.
Funds raised through the Save the Girls Charity Golf Outing help Soroptimist International of Downriver provide scholarships, empower women and girls through programs like Dream It, Be It and Dream It, Reach It, support meaningful community outreach and service projects, and respond to the needs of women and girls throughout the Downriver community.
It's one of the easiest—and most enjoyable—ways to make a lasting difference. Spend a day with friends, enjoy a great round of golf, and know that every swing helps create brighter futures for women and girls.
